Portrait Action 002

This tutorial introduces the new Portrait Process Action #002. This action set has updated color and contrast masks but has a new method of sharpening.

This new sharpening will give you a far greater control over sharpening using 'Smart Objects' and two masks to give a finer control. This will enable you to sharpen more and then soften the effect with greater subtlety.

Great info, as usual, but especially at the end, when you talk about the fact that it's not 'BAD' to underexpose in raw and let your process action have a little more latitude to work. I have been shooting 'overexposed', and trying to underexpose a little in LR3. Can't wait for your next webinar about LR4 and how the RAW processing /process action works together best. Cheers!

Love the interaction of the 2 masks and the quick reminder of what the smoothing function does in terms of ramping down sharpness in the dark areas

The Portrait Action creates it's own S and H layers to alter contrast. Does this mean that once I've decided to use the Portrait Action I will no longer want to use the S and H layers in the Process Action and should therefore rename them so they are not affected by the Portrait Action?

Nicholas: you don't wanna use both the Portrait Action and the process action on the same image, so you shouldn't have a problem with S and H layers sharing names.
