This new Process Action has a few enhancements, the most important being a new approach to "Sharpening". Using Smart Objects to leave the Sharpening in a fluid editable state will be a huge advantage to most users of my Process Actions.

Having just one set of buttons for Portrait, Landscape and Average seemed to me to be a logical approach. What I need is your opinions to guide the development of these Process Actions and any comments on these updates and future features are needed and always welcome.

I hope you fine this update useful and hope it helps you to produce even better images, enjoy...

A year ago Guy showed me this way of sharpening and I compared lots of images in the old and new way USM.
Above Lou said "brillant" and so it is.
Levels o,o1 makes so much sense and I adjust the clean of green always in images and now this fixed too.
It's good you said to make new droplets something you forget and find out later.
Thank you Guy and your team

Good evening! incisive and very clever. Many thanks Guy - and it's so very helpful to know time can be saved processing ones work and spend more time actually behind the lens. I shall be busy creating the droplets now. Many thanks to you all and nice to "see" Neil.

You did it again! Many thanks.

The only thing I'm missing in the action is about the way to know wich buttons/values are operating, I know you can aways look the Adjustment window or the opacity, etc..., but I'm trying to find a different way, like having marks on the action button as the asterisks or color fading. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks nan

Love having the options right at the top for Portrait/landscape/General. Makes for a much smoother workflow. Very nice thanks!

Great improvement on the new action. Sharpening is great and I love the more subtle colour boost.

Only one question. What is the default for sharpening opacity? You don't mention in the tutorial and there is no asterix indicating it in the action.

Great as always! The one thing I still really struggle with, is knowing how much to do in my Raw conversion before I bring my photo into to PS for the process action. Should I only be looking at the histogram to make sure there is no clipping? Should I be using contrast or brightness? HELP!

An excellent and very comprehensive tutorial presented in a way to suit users of all abilities.
I like the colours of the new process action - I had wondered if the greens in brightly lit landscapes sometimes became "too green" (I now know you would say "too yellow") before when doing a 90% clean but assumed I held that opinion due to my own lack of experience.
I do have one query: Alamy like any pictures submitted to be unsharpened. I am presuming the way to do this is still to set the sharp layer to 0% and that there is no need to set the pixel radius on the smart object to 0 as well.
Thanks for all your help.

As far as the sharpening goes...I turn off all sharpening in LR, as suggested, but I'm wondering - when the process action sharpens, can I use this now for print/web, etc.? Do I need different percentages depending on where the final "result" will be used? So far, my actual prints look a tiny bit "crispy", but it may be because I forgot to turn off the default raw sharpening upon import. I plan on doing a side by side test, but it would be great to know what the process action sharpening is intended for.

Hi Guy, Looking forward to using this new action. I mostly do portraiture so would appreciate if you could show how to set it up so that the portrait process results as the default.

Love it! you've addressed the only two issues I've had with the original process... We seem to shoot against / inside sandstone churches a lot.. and the Boost really did seem overly aggressive on the yellow. Also, I have been getting fringing when I sharpen 90% on an image taken in bright daylight (the contrast of the white bridal gown) and this is now sorted :) Thanks Guy.

The new Actions works extremely well. In the previous version I often turned off sharpening but now not only is it significantly better but the whole actions seems more streamlined and produces superior results. There were images where I found the previous Actions gave no improvement but now I shall use Actions 2 on all my imported images.
Thanks very much Guy.

Just downloaded the action and tried it out, have to say that first impression is that it is better, much better - thanks

Hi
Thank you for the latest action. I have installed it and only the general tab shows in button mode.(neither the portrait or landscape show ) I re installed the action and still the same. I'd like to use the portrait tab, but have to come out of button mode to use it,then go back into button mode afterwards. Is that right?

I'm still using CS3 so it incorporates ACR 4.6 which does not have the same noise reduction algorithms as ACR 6.6. Any suggestions for suitable settings? Will a modified action still give worthwhile results?
