Colour Image Grain

 

Adding an organic noise or even a film grain effect to a color image requires a very subtle control over how the effect is applied, this tutorial shows you how leaving you with the most natural organic effect yet.

Adding noise or grain to a color image requires a very subtly way of reducing the effect in the highlight and shadow areas. The layers "Blend if" feature, works so well at this, it produces a softer effect which in my opinion is very much needed to create the correct illusion of noise or grain.

I love this effect and use it nearly all the time on my images, I love digital cameras but hate the sterile image they create, this just helps to create a more organic feel to my image that I really like.
