Colour to Mono conversion has always been simple. It never needed to be a place of multiple 'Black Magic' tricks and incoherent processes that if you are lucky - Just might work.
There is nothing more frustrating than the technique used on one image successfully, then not working on the next. It is just crazy that this is the world of Mono conversion today for many.
The process needs to feel like a creative one but there is no substitute for creativity with prediction and intuition, this only comes with the understanding of the process - the full process.

DVD Chapters
Conversion Overview
Here we take a look at most of todays Photoshop methods for creating a Monochromatic or Black and White image. Looking at the positives and negatives of the thought process and the all important workflow issues.
Calculations
This chapter is fully focussed on using Photoshop's 'Calculations' feature to create fast, high contrast, sharp mono images. This is just one way to approach mono conversion and it is extremely powerful.
Mastering Contrast
Black and White images are created in the
control of contrast not the conversion method it's self. Once you learn to control contrast you can create any mono image you want predictably
rather than the 'hit and miss' methodologies banded around today.
Colour Correcting Mono
This is probably the most important element to learn in controling your Mono conversion. Once the initial conversion is created and contrast is applied, colour correction the image to change target areas within the image give your final mono images another dimension.
